Newberry Home Server Connection Instructions

Synology Chat Server

Usage: Synology is a chat application much like Slack. It can exchange all kinds of messages including text, voice/video, pictures, etc., and has private and public channels (public i.e. everyone on our server can see it). All messages are stored on the server physically located at the Newberry house and are not accessible on the general internet.

Login Instructions: Use your assigned username and password. If you don't have one (or don't know it), please contact the Stephen. User names are as follows:

If you do not remember your password, contact Stephen and he will set up a new one for you.

Note that a banner will pop up warning about the server, it is ok to click "proceed".

Emby Media Server

Usage: Emby is a Media Server that you can use to watch movies and TV shows or listen to music. If you see a problem with a show or movie such as poor quality, no subtitles, etc., just send a note to Stephen so he can fix it. If you would like to see something added, either send the video file to Stephen or let him know so he can purchase it.

Login Instructions: Emby applications are available for many different TV/phones (Roku, Android, etc.), or just use a web browser. See the "Apps and Devices" section here. User names are listed below, enter them without the quotes. If you forgot your password, let Stephen know so he can reset it.

Mumble Audio Chat Server

Usage: Mumble is a live/real-time audio chat server that provides high-quality and low latency voice chats. Join it to have a discussion with everyone else in the family! You can create custom channels to discuss a specific topic, or even exchange text messages. Everything is live and ephemeral, so if you need to exchange messages for someone to see later, use Synology Chat.
